6:00 pm
a russian passenger jet overshoots of the runway at a moscow airport breaks into pieces and careens into a busy highway the investigation into the cause of the tragedy which left four members of the crew dead is underway. witnesses to the incident driving along moscow's major highway were shocked we hear from the passers by who became the first rescuers on the scene. plus a dialogue or help the un arab league's of peace envoy during a meeting with of the russian foreign minister warns that the syrian rebels refusal to compromise could lead to further outbreaks of violence in the country.
6:01 pm
three o'clock on a sunday morning here in moscow this is r.t. glad to have you with us. four people have been killed after a passenger plane crashed onto one of the moscow's main highways the jet broke into three parts and of the right wing caught fire after overshooting the runway at the airport on board were only eight crew members four survived but are in serious condition with head injuries if an ocean has the latest. four people have died three man the captain the flight engineer and the second pilot and one woman twenty eight year old hostages for others have been all clearly severely injured all of them have been young people as far as we know the oldest one has been just thirty two years old and all of them have been flight attendants and now their true being treated at different hospitals here in moscow and we're hearing
6:02 pm
from the doctors who have been taken care of them for these latest hours that all of them are in a very serious condition and the condition of one of them is set to be very critical with the care to pollute to all four airliner flying from the czech republic to moscow carry it off the runway at new cover airport while lending and then crashed into one of the city's busiest highways caves highway and then broke into three parts and almost immediately caught on fire at the ross three main causes that are considered. to be the reason all of these tragedy and they are weather conditions. of pilot error and technical failure but i have to say that both the captain and the second pilot have been very experienced passionless with the fifteen thousand for the captain and ten thousands of flight hours for the
6:03 pm
second pilot sully every asian expert is saying that one of the reasons why it all went wrong could be the fact that the airplane that is designed to carry at least two hundred people has been almost empty and it's very hard they say it's even harder to land. an empty plane than to land a full plane. well it's not difficult to imagine the shock of those who were driving along the major highway close to moscow when a passenger jet with a capacity of two hundred plowed into the side of the road the very first images of the crash appeared on social networks within minutes like this latest video posted on the internet shot from outside a car passing up by the scene of the crash many of those driving by stopped to give aid to the injured waiting with them up for the emergency services to arrive i would guess. was one of those helping at the scene. i saw one woman
6:04 pm
we kind of denied it was the flight attendant christina she said that the plane overshot the runway but they weren't carrying any passengers and then there is another survivor might attend and then the rescue unit came very bright but the ambulance couldn't get through because of the traffic so we gave the injured flight attendant first aid to our best knowledge called her mother to tell her she was ok get strapped home norman language and cloakroom you could find and even found the contractor to prosper to. the plane crashed right next to a busy highway there were no deaths of motorists driving by mark weiss a retired american airlines captain and a member of the civil aviation team at the spectrum group says that the experienced crew might have prevented a major tragedy. in a very prejudiced way because i'm a pilot and have more than twenty years for airline flying i want to say that it was probably some situational awareness that the pilots had that they saw what was happening to the aircraft and did their best either through most of the rudder
6:05 pm
pedals at this time using the engines to help also turn the airplane more thrust on one side less on the other will also help turn the airplane in so you want to go to remember these things happen in such a short period of time that taking a look at what's happening and how to try and control over a situation takes a lot of skill it's not something you practice in a simulator going off the end of a runway so the experience and the combine to prevent a more catastrophic situation from occurring until now the tuple of too old for has had little history of accidents and he's oleksiak cesky reports on this model of airliner and the company that owns it. this is the first incident involving the triple of two or four blind where people died so the first fatal incident involving
6:06 pm
this plane only once only on one occasion the triple of two or four have been actual incident two years ago and had a crash landing nobody was killed only a few were minor injuries were reported back then so this is the first time something like this happened is generally considered considered to be a very reliable plane that carries more than two hundred passengers very widely used for charity flights of russian tourists all major holiday destinations the company itself is a charter company called the red wings it's owned by alexander the liberty of russian billionaire who is a very prominent figure and he's been trying to run for mayor of office several years ago he also owns several british newspapers. including the evening standard so generally it's been a very good company i've used them couple of times and you know i've never thought they would actually have an incidence something like that and their safety record speaks for itself of course a small blessing was there were no passengers on board the plane which can carry
6:07 pm
more than two hundred that's amid a busy holiday season aviation safety expert david near mount explains why the jet was almost empty. the clue is with the fact that this is a charter airline it does a lot of charter work and therefore it had a task a chartered toss to carry people out to the czech republic that it didn't have a cost to bring bring them back until probably a later date meanwhile i suspect the airline needed its aircraft back at base to do other work so i think you'll find out find that this was what in the trade is called up positioning flight it was positioning the empty air craft back to its base on the runways long enough the weather wasn't particularly a problem there was some very light snow at the time but you know for anybody who operates in the moscow airport at this time of the year that shouldn't be a problem. of course it does reduce the adhesive on the runway to braking efficiency of the airplane but the pilots of course have to and you know it's their job to make allowances and if braking action is not very good it when an aircraft
6:08 pm
goes over the end of the runway like this it's almost always because the aircraft for some reason landed too fast which would be a case of misjudgment unless there was a technical reason and we haven't heard any invention yet or that the true again a misjudgment tissue landed too far down the runway and therefore couldn't stop by the end of it to the middle east now where the international peace envoy for syria says there are only two directions for the conflict a political process or hell and russia's aforementioned minister had a meeting with a lot are breaking me in moscow said the syrian opposition is refusal to talk with the government only paves the way for further bloodshed r.t.c. called peace can off has been following the talks. the biggest stumbling block in the syrian conflict right now is that the opposition is rejecting any compromise saying strictly that president assad has to go while assad himself says he's not
6:09 pm
going anywhere he's protecting his country and moscow says nobody's able to persuade him to change his mind and neither side is willing to put its weapons down if. you know the only alternative is. clearly head on a political process and then we have all of us to work says listening for the political process mr brahimi added that this should be a syrian allowed political process which should be based on the agreements reached by world powers in geneva and they include forming a transitional government which could include all sides of the conflict but the opposition is not only unwilling to negotiate with the suing authorities it's now rejecting direct talks with moscow which has been trying to be a mediator and we've heard from the leader of the recently established opposition coalition who demanded moscow to apologize for what he said was support for
6:10 pm
president assad but i understand that mr had tb is probably not very experienced in politics if he's looking to be a serious politician it is in his interest to hear our position from us and not from the media that sometimes distorts information so i'll repeat we're ready to talk to all opposition forces but we start from the premise that they should not only think about their own ambitions but also the fate of the syrian people and if they think that russia could play a role in the country's tragedy they should meet our representatives without preconditions official notice meanwhile the violence is continuing to escalate in syria there have been more terrorist attacks the rebels have been also attacking states military air strips of while government troops have been responding with more shelling. syrian political activist. says in order for rebels to prove they represent their country the national coalition must agree to hold talks when the
6:11 pm
opposition the opposition the coalition now the national coalition rejects the russian offer and the progress made by the right here me this again raises a skepticism around their real intention to proceed with a peaceful solution to the crisis in syria the syrian coalition now has the decision to make probably an executive. decision to make whether they want to proceed and join the talks abide by the geneva communique or still get stuck really down with the islamist governments that are supporting them and for them really for them to prove their credibility in syria and for them to prove that they represent a fragment of the syrian opposition or from the syrian population they have to get to get on board now if the turn comes to the united states to apply pressure on on

gogarty dot com. whether watching from new york or from right here in moscow this is our team recently glad to have you with us now iran has deployed its a navy in the strait of hormuz a key shipping route for one fifth of the world oil and showcasing to iran's military capabilities with maneuvers devised to test combat ships submarines reconnaissance and a new mid range missile the drills come amid growing pressure and sanctions against iran's nuclear program global diplomacy specialist soraya support will rick says the purpose of the exercise is not to show hostility but a readiness to defend the country's borders for the past thirty two years or more the west pacific the united states is waged a covert war against iran so iran has been preparing itself and demonstrating its arrogant as to defend itself i don't believe that iran would ever take offensive

action if we see more naval military exercises right now it's because the media is focusing on iran whereas in fact. earlier this month there was operation lucky mariner with twenty seven countries participating. although a lot of them were observer states and they were all the way in the persian gulf in iran as territory in the media was silent on this but when iran demonstrates his readiness to defend its sovereignty and its national interests then there is the media focus on iran. well it seems that french millionaires can now start unpacking their luxury luggage. a seventy five percent tax increase for the rich planned for two thousand and thirteen has been called off by the constitutional council over concerns that wealthy citizens would flee the country. and the f.b.i. has released a classified document confirming that american icon marilyn monroe was suspected of

throughout moscow and i mean you come across lines throughout the night there's a great noise. of the real colors right behind us was me but but so one point when putin came out to show me like crowds the way cost to move it thousands and thousands of people also celebrating his victory one of the main points the unprecedented protests that took place up to that election work and protest rallies it never really feels like we're actually taking part in the event it was during one of the massive protests rallies in moscow square really fifty for the first time when i saw the crowd want to see the park right next to ours another station and i realized how soon people really turned uncontrollable or was second and they'll come in just as easily chaos rebirthing of people trying to get political points in the past twelve months. the best way to do that would be about

going to head. in a cathedral the one thing that was important to get across covering it is the people's political flavor in this country the fact was that what they did was deeply offensive to a huge number of people not something that. when they were looking at the case. when they made a press release about its our interview with president putin the first that he's ever given me he's this third inauguration we see dozens and dozens of calls from international media representatives and they were all asking us just one question did he say anything about it was the right case the thing is in fact the more challenging it is gauging the conversation would be of course not. a big list in my head i want to hear about his thoughts on the ongoing syrian conflict also whether the punishment of the pussy riot punk but it was a date with hindsight maybe too heavy at some interesting comments to make about that i would have thought about the russian opposition movement one of the big stories of the year the streets are available for protests that is for sure and i

think it's good that people are conscious about politics well politics is not a big deal among most people here in this country would want to be getting the chains elected only be good for society and i think the the authorities reacted relatively low. now let's look at some more world news in brief for you this hour pakistani policemen abducted on the first day have been found dead five kilometers from where they were captured twenty one bodies were discovered with two of the officers believed to have escaped thursday's assault on checkpoints near the city of peshawar is thought to have been executed by the taliban. the six men involved in the gang rape of a student in india have been charged with murder just hours after their victim died in a hospital if convicted all could face the death penalty ok sparked protests in new delhi with the authorities are resorting to banning mass gatherings in parts of the city people are still joining to express their anger while demanding extreme

i am as ties are welcome to the kaiser report in about twenty two of us here and watch the world suffered a major banker infestation everywhere you walk you step and banker fraud dropping stinking up the global economy. well we're going to talk about some ideas and
6:26 pm
stories that may actually help eradicate this unsanitary infestation problem stacy herbert yes max the banking rats are all over the place but their days may be numbered peer to peer lending boom could make banks obsolete the rise of peer to peer lender such as zopa and funding circle which directly match up for rooms in need of cash with investors and so-called crowd funding where small amounts are resort a large number of funders will challenge the nation's major financial institutions according to andrew haldane the bank's director of financial stability of course well the internet which makes this possible has been highly disruptive to a number of different industries the banks have been caught doing all kinds of bad things so the market is taking the industry in a new direction getting rid of the middleman getting rid of the banks to offer appear to be peer lending schemes but you know the banks will fight it and the
6:27 pm
banks will fight it just like the hollywood fights the innovations and the content business and the copyright business so for example in hollywood still protect the monopoly positions of hollywood producers they have. transformed the internet from an interactive to a medium to a one way cable t.v. type model that's their goal so they're destroying this entire potential growth sector of the economy the internet to keep the old style alive same thing for the banks they have an incredible lobbying presence in the u.k. and around the world they will do whatever it takes to stop any competition so they will vilify the internet though if they have to they'll have more pedophile scandals to try to make the paint thinner and the bad brush to stop. the internet they'll do anything at any cost to stop competition from rising like them i can
6:28 pm
predict with certainty well andrew holding told the independent he said quote the model banking culture we have had since the one nine hundred ninety s. is on its way out instead we are seeing a much more diverse ecosystem emerging with the growth of new non-bank groups offering peer to peer lending and crowd funding which are operating directly with a wider public and of course this all developed out of the sight of well all the elites and the monopolist and oligarch lists so this is why you do you see i think crackdowns on the internet but it's kind of too late they didn't really understand the threat of the internet and how it can't really be taken down so you have this peer to peer lending have crowd funding for all sorts of cultural content you have bitcoin and i know that's now been there is actually a bit coin bank that is registered in france it's allowed to trade as a bank in france or if i look at the example of micro financing it totally transformed the banking industry in bangladesh. women were able to get money. take
6:29 pm
them out of poverty and it was so successful that the big banks swooped in and they destroyed that industry and the nobel prize winning inventor of the industry was thrown tossed to the curb. so this is unfortunately you're dealing with an entrenched monopolist oligarchies that will stop at nothing to prevent competition from coming to the fore if these new technologies and platforms gain critical mass then the banks will stop at nothing to get rid of competition that's that's unfortunately we have a whole gospelly in place i do think you know they could try all they want but there is a different sector there are people who know how to code right there are people who know how to innovate there are people and innovation is important it's the mother of the necessity is the mother of invention and this is what and you whole thing does point out he says necessity is often the mother of invent.
